Goals & Benchmarks

The original Tasmania Together 2001 document has been revised and updated since 2001; the first time in 2006 following the first Five Year Review, and more recently in November 2009 when Parliament endorsed 35 new and revised benchmarks.  As a result Tasmania Together now has 12 goals and 151 benchmarks.

Headline Indicators

The Board has also identified a benchmark in each goal to use as headline indicators. The headline indicators will provide a snapshot of progress and can be regularly reported. Further information can be found at Headline Indicators.

Developing and Reviewing Benchmarks

Under the Act, the Board is required to:

The Board has established a Benchmarking Committee to undertake the development and review of the benchmarks. This committee is currently reviewing its procedures and will publish them on this site shortly. The previous process for developing and reviewing benchmarks can be viewed here.

When it published the revised Tasmania Together, the Board identified 34 benchmarking tasks. These relate to work on a number of important issues that the Board was unable to complete during the review either due to timing of the development of new data sources or uncertainty about whether data would become available.
